Clwyd West MS and Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS, and Vale of Clwyd Senedd Member, Gareth Davies MS, recently visited EvadX Limited, a long-established Kinmel Bay steel fabrication company, to discuss the firm’s expansion plans and ongoing investment in new technology.
EvadX was founded in the early 1980s and has grown steadily and now employs 43 staff, investing also in high-tech equipment with cutting-edge 3D modelling systems, CNC machinery, and fume extraction systems, ensuring high-quality production for major projects across the UK, including in Manchester and London.
During the visit, the Senedd Members met with Simon Adams, Managing Director, Beth Griffin, Operations Director, and Robert Evans, Production Director, who shared insights into the company’s innovative four-day working week, a policy that’s proven popular with staff and helped attract new recruits in a competitive engineering market.
Mr Millar and Mr Davies also discussed their support for EvadX’s next phase of growth, helping to strengthen North Wales’ manufacturing and engineering economy.
Following the meeting, Clwyd West MS and Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS said:
“It was fantastic to meet the EvadX team and see such an impressive example of a North Wales company that is investing, innovating and thriving."The manufacturing sector is important to our regional economy and companies like EvadX demonstrate the skill, quality and ambition that make North Wales a great place to do business.
“The firm combines decades of experience with forward-thinking investment in people and technology, and it’s vital we retain and expand these skills in our area, so I’m pleased that EvadX is looking to grow even further and create more local jobs which will be a real boost for Kinmel Bay and the wider region.
“The Welsh Government must ensure that businesses like this aren’t being throttled by high taxation and that they have access to the investment they need to grow.”
Vale of Clwyd MS Gareth Davies added:
“It was a real pleasure to visit EvadX and see first-hand a local business that’s thriving, growing, and leading the way in North Wales. The manufacturing sector is absolutely vital to the North Wales economy, providing skilled, well-paid jobs and supporting the next generation of engineers and fabricators.“What really stood out to me was the company’s forward-thinking approach, particularly the four-day working week, which is clearly proving successful in boosting staff morale and productivity.
“EvadX’s plans to expand and create new jobs are very positive news for our region. We need to make sure that businesses like this have access to the right support and grant funding from the Welsh Government so they can continue to grow, invest, and strengthen the North Wales economy.”
Simon Adams, Managing Director, Beth Griffin, Operations Director, and Robert Evans, Production Director at Evadx issues the following joint statement:
“We were delighted to welcome Darren Millar MS and Gareth Davies MS to EvadX and share our vision for the next phase of growth. As we mark 41 years in business, we remain deeply proud of our people — their skill, dedication and teamwork have been the driving force behind our success and continue to shape our future.
"Many companies are now exploring a four-day working week, but we adopted it some 15 years ago. It’s become integral to our culture, helping us attract and retain skilled people, enhance wellbeing, and improve productivity. It’s proof that putting people first delivers lasting success.
"As we continue to invest in new technology and expand our operations, we’re committed to creating more high-quality, secure jobs here in North Wales. With rising tax pressures, increasing regulation and an ongoing shortage of skilled workers, it’s more important than ever that government creates the conditions for businesses to thrive. We value the support shown by the Welsh Conservatives and will be proud to support their commitment to enterprise and economic growth in the lead-up to the next Senedd election in May 2026. A strong and competitive manufacturing sector is vital to Wales’ prosperity — driving growth, creating opportunity, and sustaining the communities we’re proud to be part of.”
